Apparently, the banana is on its way to becoming extinct. According to Popular Science, this is because the fruit has been genetically engineered to be "too perfect" and can't defend itself to fungal and bacterial diseases. A Panama disease called Race 4 has already eradicated bananas in Indonesia, Malaysia, Australian and Taiwan. They could be wiped out as early as 2015!
I am not sure how to take this news. Bananas aren't my favourite fruit or anything, but it would weird to have a world without them. They are a part of life like clouds and trees and puppies. And I think I would miss peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Sigh.

I read that article too, it seems so odd to think of a world without bananas!

That is so odd! I haven't heard that. I usually don't eat bananas, but for whatever reason, I have had a hankering for them lately. I had one with breakfast this morning. Bummer!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful day, Love.
